"You're Hot Then You're Cold"
I feel like I haven't written for a while, even though it's only been a couple of weeks (maybe). Anyways, there's a lot going on right now. First off, we close on our new house on Friday, which means we can start moving in this weekend. Knowing me, I'll just start moving the non essentials over there that I can carry. Like a lot of our pots and pans, and the winter clothes. Nothing too important until next weekend, because that's when the movers are scheduled to come and move everything else. Phil's going to be gone till July-ish, so I'm basically moving all by myself. Oh well, that's the life of a future Navy wife... lol. This is like practice for the next 8 years... haha.
So I am well on my way into my 2nd trimester. I am now 16 weeks to the day. I went in today for the prenatal genetic screening and they drew some blood. I'm hoping nothing is wrong. I mean, there aren't any genetic issues in my family blood line, and Phil's family blood line doesn't have anything serious either. But, all we can do is wait. No news is good news, at least that's what my doctor told me. So all I can do is wait. These tests can identify pregnancies at risk for open neural tube defects, down syndrome, and trisomy 18. I don't think we have anything to worry about because neither of us have any family history of any of these. Here's hoping for no news.
As far as how I'm feeling, there are days where I'm fine, and then there are those days where I just don't want to get out of bed. The worst thing now are these "hot flashes". I thought they were reserved for women going through menopause. One minute I'm burning up, then the next minute I'm freezing. I can't seem to get comfortable. I wrap myself up in blankets, oh no, I'm too hot. I take off the blankets... then I'm too cold. I'm not sure what else to do. I am always drinking cold water because I feel like I'm burning up from the inside. I don't really know what to do to find some kind of comfort from this. They say it's only going to get worse. People say that being pregnant during the summer months is horrible because you're always going to be hot and burning up. Ugh... here's hoping the summer goes by just as fast as the rest of the year seemed to be speeding by.
I think its just an early pregnancy thing (temp control probs), and you will get more comfortable soon. Being pregnant in the summer was great for me. You will get your glow on and get to wear thin summer dresses (maxi) around your tummy which should be comfy. You might want to get one of those pregnancy books too for peace of mind. What to expect when expecting..if you dont have it already. All the best!
